When I try to open a web site (http://www.sjm.com), I get a full page message
as follows: Left hand corner, dog eared page with i in center...The page
cannot be displayed. aThe page you are looking for is currently unavailable.
The web site might be experiencing technical difficulties.........etc.

I checked with a neighbor, and hae said he could open the site. What do you
suggest I do?

Thanks.

The webpage works fine here and I don't see that it is doing anything
tricky. Assuming all other Internet access works for you:

1. Were you ever able to get to this particular website?
2. If yes, what changed between the time things worked and the time they
didn't?
3. What browser are you using?
4. Can you access the page with another browser? If you are using
Internet Explorer (which version?), try installing Firefox and see if
you can get to the site from there.
5. How are you getting to the site? Typing in the name or clicking on a
bookmark? If clicking on a bookmark, type in the name instead and if
successful change the bookmark.
6. Put the site in your Trusted Sites list from Internet Options.

OK, then let's take this bit by bit.

To find out what version of Internet Explorer you have (or any other
program), start the program and click on Help>About. That will show you
the version. If you haven't updated to IE7, then you'll see IE6. IE7
has issues with some websites and that's why I asked you what version
IE you have. So you do need to find this out and tell me.

Then we'll continue further once I know what version of IE you have.

To answer #6 - Trusted Sites - I don't have IE7 installed on my Windows
machines yet so here's the information under IE6:

In IE6, click on Tools>Internet Options. Click on the Security tab and
then click on the Trusted Sites green circle in the window. Now click
the Sites button just below that window. Type in http://www.sjm.com and
then click Add. Clear the checkmark in the box that says "Require
server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone". Apply/OK out.
