Opening Temp files

I recently opened an attachment on Outlook, made some changes to the
document, then saved it by hitting the icon. I'm now not sure where it is on
my computer. I think it is under my Local Settings/temp file but when I try
open documents in that folder, they cannot be read. They are saved as tmp
files and my system cannot decipher them. Can anyone give me any suggestions
as to how I can find and or recover the information? Thanks.
