opening old pst file

I redid my computer yesterday. I saved the old pst file, but can't seem to
get the old emails to show up. My outlook.pst file is 1.2 gigs, and works,
but only the emails i have received since installation are showing up. How do
i get it to show everything?

Thanks!

Descxribe how you connected the old PST to your current mail profile.

file, import and Export, Import internet mail and addresses, import from
another program or file, personal folder file (.pst), file to import = my old
outlook file, i chose allow duplicates to be created, import items into the
same folder in: "personal folders", finish

I've been messing with it so I may need to start over. I've still got the
original file. If so, would you give the steps to start over fresh and then
to import it the right way.

Thanks

If you have the origonal pst, located on your HD,
Within Outlook>File>Open>Data File........browse to that pst

i've tried this already. it didn't work either. I just uninstalled and
reinstalled outlook and it is looking for the outlook1.pst file (my "old
file").

2 questions:
how do i get my computer back to the new installation? there must be garbage
in the registry because it's trying to find the old file before it opens a
new install of outlook.

how do i get it so i can import messages from the old pst file.

Thank you.

the main problem is that i don't see the inbox messages that i had in the
old. it does have my addresses.

it's not bringing in any emails to my inbox. I've tried the pst file that i
just made before redoing my computer and I've also tried bringing in an old
one that I know worked because i used it to restore my laptop that i did a
while back. There's something going wrong with the installation or something
and I'd like to get things put right.

Thanks.
