Stting up new laptop - Outlook pst problems

I am setting up a new laptop running Outlook 2007. I imported an archieved
..pst which contained data to April08 - not today. I have since located the
current .pst file - how do I clear the old data in Outlook on the new laptop,
and get the current data in?

I tried deleting the Outlook file in the application data/outlook folder, I
then created a new personal folder which shows up without any data at the top
of the Mail Folders section in Outlook, but the old inbox, folders, and data
are still showing below.

How can I wipe what is in there and start anew and get the current pst from
today in there?

Connect the pst-file via File-> Open-> Outlook Data File...
Then use File-> Data File Management... to set it as the default.
Restart Outlook and then you can use File-> Data File Management... to
disconnect the other pst-file.
