opening files

Opening files from CD, takes a very long time. Does not
matter if Word or Excel file, displays "calling antivirus"
then a delay of up to two minutes.

Is there any way around this?

Sounds like your antivirus is scanning files whenever you
open them. Try disabling this via the antivirus software
preferences/options.
