opening .doc email attachments

There was a post to this list addressing my problem, but I can't find it
again!
My Vista Windows email won't open .doc attachments. I had to install
Microsoft Office Word 2003 in order to be able to open .doc files in my
computer, but it doesn't work for my email unless I go through a convoluted
process of copying and pasting to Office Word.
Please help!

But how can you copy, if you can't open?
If you save the attached .doc, and then open it with Word, why for the
copy/paste?

I had the same problem. The fix listed in Dave's reply to you (docfix) worked
for me. Good luck with it. Seems strange that Microsoft can't offer support
like this. Ian
