Opening Attachments- Windows Installer

I cannot open any attachments on my computer, whether it is via e-mail or
saved on my system. I get a message each time I try to open it saying that
Windows Installer is preparing to install and then nothing happens. I have
rebooted several times, run my virus scan, and restored my setting to a
previous date, all to no avail. I would appreciate any guidance. Thanks.

The best suggestion you can get here is to try a different newsgroup. One
intended for answering questions about using Windows, for example.

This newsgroup is for .NET Framework programming questions, and your
