opening a .pst file

I recently had to reformat my hard drive. I had
everything backed up but now can't open outlook.pst. I
keep being told that I do not have permission to open
this file ( I have reset my user name etc to what it was
before). Is there any way of 'breaking into' this file -
I desperately need the information contained in it.

did u back it up to CD?
If so, dont try and open it from the cd, copy it to your hard drive and
remove the read only attribute from the file.
you will the be able to open it
