Cannot Open .PST Files

D

Duncs

I recently had to install a new hard drive and manually moved the
folder in which my .PST files were located from th eold drive to the
new one. Now however, when I open Outlook, it tells me that the file
no longer exists in its old location, tells me that I need to close
Outlook--which is not open--and restart it. However, restarting it
has the same outcome.

Can I get them back and open Outlook?

Dear Duncs,

your Outlook version is?

Please try to connect your PST file over the Control Panel/Mail =>
Doubleclick on "Mail" => Datafiles => Doublick on "Personal Folder".

Do you get any error message or can you connect the PST file?

If you get an error message, maybe you will ask for the new path of the PST
file.

If not, I prefer to create a new profile:

Oliver,

I'm using Outlook 2007 and when I access Control Panel | Mail, I don't
get any errors. The details in there relate to the new location of
the data files. However, Outlook itself still tries to load them from
the old location.

Hi Duncs,

After you created a new profile I would "add" your old PST file
(File/Open/Personal Folders).

Then you have 2 "Personal Folders" but you can not delete the new empty one.

You must change the delivery folder to the "old" PST file.

After a restart of Outlook you can delete the "new" empty PST file.
