Open/save dialog box settings

How do I save the open/save dialog box setting (detail view,
sortorder, colomns positions, dialog box size). It always open in
"list view" and the size and sorting is not remembered either :-/

File Open dialogs only support system default settings (generally things like Show Hidden or not). This includes only sorting from your list (which is overridden by other settings for nearly everything else but File Open). Close a folder window by Ctrl and click the X on the titlebar.
