Just wondering if there is a way to make a button on desktop for
opening and closing cd rom drive. I have to push it closed every time
because of tower setup and I hear its bad for the drive to do that
every time.

Thanks

Open My Computer, then right-click on the drive. Select "Create Shortcut"
in the pop-up[ ,menu. A message will appear to the effect that one can't be
created here; would you like one on the Desktop ? Click on Yes. Should now
have a shortcut.

My CD drive tray is sensitive enough that a very light push on it makes it
close on its own. Closing by either doing it with a gentle shove or by
using Eject in the shortcut's pop-up menu will probably have the same
wear-and-tear. Others may know differently...

Near as I can determine, the thing has to be closed as earlier suggested.
My theory that a mouse click on Eject again would close as well as open
failed. Sorry...

Tried that, did not work, no big deal, just wondering if possible. Guess not.
