only some sounds after xp upgrade

Hello

After upgrading my Gateway 550 system to windows xp, I do not have any system sounds and my dvd player does not have sound. I can play mp3's and cd's with audio and my tv tuner card has audio. I have tried to update my driver but still am having the same problems. My sound card is part of the mother board and is a creative audiopci (ES1371, ES1373) (WDM)

Any assistance is appreciated.

David, did you look in Control Panel>Sound and Audio
Devices>Volume>Advanced. Make sure the sliders are up at
least half way and no mute boxes are checked.
