I'm shopping prices for the parts for my new box at the following:
Newegg
Tigerdirect
Mwave
AxionTech
Directron
ZipZoomFly
AccuPC
Anyone got any warnings/complaints in dealing with any of these stores?
(Thanks to all volunteers for the recommendations on some of these vendors.
Newegg, Mwave, and ZipZoom have consistently the most parts at the best
prices.)

I've done business with NewEgg, Mwave, Directron and Tiger Direct. I'm 100%
happy with NewEgg. Directron sold me a monitor at a very good price, but
failed to mention it was a factory re-furb. Mwave sold me a "pre-tested"
mobo, CPU, HSF combo and when I removed the HSF to remove the thermal pad
and apply Arctic Silver I noticed the core had been chipped. It worked fine,
but they sold me an item that could not have been sold at full price by
itself. Tiger Direct? Watch their prices! Some very good, others not. And
don't ask sales for advice on compatibility ;-) Always confirm through other
sources. I have had excellent luck with prices and shipping speed on eBay!
Let the "Feedback" be your guide. My last two system's mobo's, CPU's and
memory from eBay at better than discount mail order prices! Hope this helps.

I've been checking Ebay for speakers, and the small stuff. Never thought to
check for the big stuff. I'll do that.
Thanks for the info. Any information helps on a first time home-build/6
years removed from the parts market!

It's a "let the buyer beware" situation, but I got 1GB (2x512 dual channel
set) of Kingston HyperX PC3500 for $181 factory sealed on eBay. Price that
at NewEgg or Mwave ;-) It's also where I got my unlocked XP2500 (0324). Just
read the Feedback! And don't over pay ;-)

I just got a shipment from newegg.
Case, MB, Mem, CD etc..
Got it in 4 working days.
First they have good customer support.
The secound thing that impressed me was the packing. They pack to ship
safe. Tired of sending back damaged stuff.
First time with them but very pleased so far.

Have bought most of my components from NewEgg for a computer, great service.
But when I placed my last order for cables the shipping/handling was
ridiculous.... after contacting them one person told me basically tough
luck. I responded I would never buy again unless the item was with free
shipping special.... they came back with, "we are sorry to have made a
mistake and not given you a bulk discount on your shipping, and will refund
the total shipping". Seems they have several policies depending on who you
talk to. I had also told them I regularly post to a couple of newsgroups
that deal with home built computers,,, this seemed to get their attention.
Other than this I'm very pleased with NewEgg, but you better watch the
shipping and handlind charges.

Great site. Thanks. That was all the info I needed in one place.

Newegg has disappointed me twice now - I wanted to return a sound card
that was unopened, and they still wanted a 15% restocking fee. Then I
bought a monitor with a bad power supply, and it was free shipping to
me, but they want me to pay for shipping to return it. Should I be
upset that since I already got free shipping once, I shouldn't get it
again?

TigerDirect however was very efficient in sending me a prepaid
shipping label and exchanging an item for me (I ordered an OEM version
in error when I wanted the Retail version).

But I also agree - TigerDirect could package their items better; and
Newegg has better prices.
