once i have scanned a document/text into word, how do I edit it?

Unless you have already used an OCR application to convert it to text, all
you have is a picture of the scanned document. Your scanner probably came
with a "lite" version of OmniPage or some other OCR app. Check out the
scanner documentation.

When you convert from Microsoft Image Writer to Word, does the formatting
stay or do you lose it? If it is lost, aren't you just as well off saving
the scanned doc as rtf?
