On-screen keyboard shift sticks

Hi All,

Win XP On-Screen Keyboard loads ok and enters letters ok. But when I click
the "shft" key, things go awry:

"Shft" key does not hold an outline showing that it has been clicked.

The next letter key pressed is shifted to caps ok, but all letter keys after
that are also capitals, even though the "lock" key is off.

It is as if the "shft" key gets stuck, but does not show having been pressed
at all.

Is there a setting or other fix to correct this?

Thanks,

Stefan

Hi,

Did you check the functioning of your keyboard. Are the keys working
properly. Try and check the keybaord with another computer. There are cases
in which the keys will work perfectly but fail to function at times and will
flash on and off and that will make working anonnying.

Do replace the keyboard and see if the problem still persists.

Hi,

Following your suggestions, I checked as follows:

1) Two different mechanical keyboards on two different Win XP installations
work ok. Also swapped the mechanical keyboards between the systems. Works ok.

2) However, on both of these systems, the Win XP On-Screen Keyboard has
problems as described earlier: the "shft" gets stuck.

3) Installed two different third party on-screen keyboards which work ok; no
problems with the "shft".

4) So it looks to me like there is a problem with the Win XP On-Screen
keyboard. I'll let it slide and use another solution.

Regards,
Stefan
