Offline files when online?

Hi,

Is it possible to use offline files/folders in preference to online
files when online?

I have offline files set up and working on my laptop. Alongside my
standard network access at work, I also have a private network
connection at home. When I am logged onto the network at home for
email purposes the network connections are also active. Using explorer
and my folder shortcuts to navigate to and open files is incredibly
slow, I assume because I connecting remotely to my server. I have
tried disconnecting my network drive, but it automatically reconnects
when I attempt to access the offline files through my shortcuts. If
possible I want to avoid using the acutally offlines folder. I need to
maintain the network connection for email but would like to be able to
use my offline files in preference to the online versions. When I am
at work on the local network I want to be able to syncronise and work
on the online files.

At the moment I log on to check my emails, log of and disconnect from
the network, log back in and work offline using my offline files, then
log off every 30 minutes and reconnect to the network to check for
emails, which is very time consuming!

Any advice would be much appreciated
Thanks

I had this same problem ... I moved away from offline files because of
it. Its a pity as well as outlook 2003 now has a decent offline cached
mode - the os could do with one too.

I now have the files local in the my docs folder in the local profile
and use software to sync the my docs folder with the network drive for
backup purposes when I choose to backup.
