Can I install office2000 on windows xp? When I try to
Install office2000 I get a error, windows Installer needs
to be up grade. How do i fix windows installer service?

Office 2000 can be installed on Windows XP.

Dunno why it is saying Windows Installer needs an upgrade, XP already has
the latest version.

Yes Office 2000 will run on XP, I am running it on XP Pro.
Maybe you need to do a repair install for some necessary files are missing.

Hi:
I could easily install Office 2000 right after the
purchase of my computer, however I could NOT install
Office 2000 after the crash that wiped out all
applications. Then, your problem might be as similar as
mine.
Then, what I did for second installation was a
kind 'forcible installation' or 'trick' on its
installation:
(1) Take out CD right after seeing 'error' message
(2) Put it back when asking another CD/new one as if the
CD(same one) is up-grade version.
I have no way to say whether this 'trick' may work on
your case, but it won't hurt to give a shot!

There is an update for the installer. Visit the MS Office web site; IIRC it
is listed in the web site
