Can I install office2000 with XP?

I know I should be upgrading to office2007 or some great suite like
that...but I am just being cheap. I like the functions on word2000 and I
primarily only use word and power point. Can I install office2000 into a
computer running with XP? When I put in the disc, access was denied. Is
Office2000 too old?
