office xp problems

i have a system (xp pro) that everytime we try to open an office application
(any office app.) wants to download from microsoft office standard. i put the
cd in and it says it cannot find std.msi. it refuses to find it and will
not load from my cd any suggestions? i have tried to find this file on the
site but came up empty

Hi Art,

This generally happens from running Office out of profile that Office was
not originally installed in. If this is the case, the edit on line 171
(right hand side) will help [ignore the name].

Added info: Windows Installer start every time I start XP. If you have
SpywareGuard installed, disable it and try again.
