Office Updates

I have MS Windows XP Home Edition SP1. When I attempt to use MS's Office Update feature to determine which office updates my system requires, it indicates that I need SP1. Since my system came with SP1 built into it I can not download SP2 or SP3 or other Office Updates. I did attemp to download the SP1; but unsuccessfully; message: unexpected version. Clueless at this point and time; any solutions:

You neglected to say which version of Office you have. All of the
Service Packs for Office 2000/XP are available as a "Stand-Alone"
download.

Office 2002 is the version installed.

There are two pages of updates including SP1 and SP2. It may take awhile
but hopefully it will work for you.
Perhaps re-installing SP1 first will solve your problems.

There are two different "update" programs, one for Windows
XP and the other for Office XP/2002.

Easiest thing to do is to go to Start/Windows Update and
check for Windows Updates...Install those you need.
Then you'll see there is a Office Update link on the Windows
Update toolbar, click that and the Office Update page will
open and if you select "scan for updates" Office XP/2002
will pick the updates your system needs. If you try to
manually install Office SP2 and you don't have SP1 installed
you will get a warning message. Just let the update program
do its job.

Having MS Windows XP Home Edition SP1 does not guarantee that you have any MS
Office Products on your Computer.

Do you have any MS Office Applications installed?

If so, which version?

Perhaps you are trying to update the wrong version.
