Office apps give install error after running Office update

One of my colleages ran office update on one of our
client's TServers to fix a web issue. Now when you try to
open a document you get the following error:

Some default settings in Microsoft Office 2000 setup do
not work properly on a Windows Terminal Server. To install
Office on Terminal Server, you must use the instructions
and tools available in your Office 2000 Resource Kit or at
http://www.microsoft.com/office/ORK/.

Of course we installed it originally using the proper
methods, that are outlined in the Resource Kit. We need to
fix this without reloading the TS. We cannot remove Office
or reinstall it, neither can we update or remove any
updates. All such attempts produce the above error. Any
Ideas?
