Hi, is there a way, without using the migration wizard, to be able to
manually pull a users office settings, by going to
C:\Users\*alias*\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook

.... so they can have all their inbox as is was before their system was
rebuilt? Inbox items like inbox profiles, shared inboxes, psts, email cache,
signatures, outlook preferred settings, etc?

thanks

Thanks,
D-man

Some of Outlook's data is there and some if in %AppData%\Microsoft\Outlook.
The autocompletion cache, for example, is called {mailprofile}.NK2 (where
"{mailprofile}" is the name of the person's mail profile). Place this file
in the same folder on the rebuilt PC and name it the same as the existing
profile.

I have no idea what you mean by "Inbox profiles". If you add the PST to the
person's new profile, use the Mail applet in Control Panel to do that and
make it the delivery location there. Signatures are in
%AppData%\Microsoft\Signatures. Copy those files to the same folder on the
rebuilt PC.

You'll need to recreate the accounts. I don't know what you mean by
"outlook preferred settings" or "etc."

Hi, Brian -

1. "I have no idea what you mean by "Inbox profiles"."

In other words let's say they have other accounts that they log into like
conf rooms or inboxes that they have access. These may be either a child
inbox under their parent inbox or a seperate profile. So rather than
defaulting to their alias, they go to the other account.

2. "I don't know what you mean by
"outlook preferred settings" or "etc."

Outlook preferred settings: in other words let's say you have your outlook
options set to advanced view or your preview pane set at the bottom or have
your menu bar customized. How are these settings pulled manually?

thanks much!

Profiles and accounts are completely different objects. You can have the
same account in two profiles or reference two accounts in a single profile.
Inboxes are not profiles and Inboxes are not accounts. Child folders are
not separate from the parent and can be referenced by one account or
multiple accounts. I'm afraid I still don't undersatnd what you mean.

Some are in the registry and some are in data files. If an fairly
comprehensive description of Outlook's files (but not its registry values),
see this: http://www.slipstick.com/config/backup.asp . I don't think it
would be wise to try to move registry values from one machine to another.
