Office 2000 Pro on Win XP

Recently purchased new Compac PC with XP. Want to move
my Office 2000 Professional from my old Windopws 98
platform to the XP box.

All attemps to install from Start/Run or CP/Add Programs
result in apparent loop at 10% complete at "Installing
Office 2000. Pleasr wait while Windows configures MS
Office 2000"

If I wait long enough at this stalled activity get "Error
1305 -- Error reading from file E(CD): \PFiles\MS
Office\Office\AW.DLL
Verify that file exists and you can access it"

File Search in "E" finds no such file.

Can anyone suggest why this won't install, and a possible
fix?

My Office 2000 installed smoothly. I simply inserted the disk and closed the
drawer. Gave it a number. Gave it a second disk. Done.

Disable your AntiVirus program before starting the install. If that doesn't help, try copying the CD to the hard drive, then installing from there.
