OE Mail and Newsgroups

Just put in a new C drive. Previously, all of the headers were greyed when
all of the posts to that thread were read, when a new post was added to the
thread, the header became BOLD again. After reading a post, that post was
greyed. Please tell me how to get this back again???

Did you (re)install Windows?

What's different now, please? When a new/unread post is downloaded, the
thread isn't highlighted (bolded)? When a new post in a thread is read, the
thread & message doesn't show as read (un-bold)?

Tools > Options > Read > Mark messages as read after displaying for XX
seconds: What's your setting here?

Tools > Options > Read > Download XX headers at a time: What's your setting
here? What happens if you uncheck it?

In OE go to the 'Tools' menu, select 'Options' and then click on the 'Read'
tab.
In the list of Reading Messages options there should be a Check Mark next to
the: 'Mark message read after displaying for' .
Also set the number of seconds to about 3 seconds. This will ensure that
even a short post will be grayed after you read it.

I installed a fresh Windows XP sp2 on new drive.
In the folder Tools-Options-Read....I have it checked for 3 seconds, I
unchecked it and reloaded this ng, no change. Went back and re-checked it
for 5 seconds, reloaded this ng and again no change. I left it checked for 3
sec.... I've been around for a long time and never seen this happen before.
Even re-booted. No luck. None of my Mail shows them having been read
either. I appreciate both of you trying to help me.

Try the Outlook Express group.
