format, when I open these attachments (some will some won't) it gives me this
message ( cannot load word for windows 6.0 files ). I have word pad ver.5.1
and ms works ver. 7.0 neither of these will open the attachments, do I need
ms word perhaps? I need to see these attachments!

Were the DOC attachments sent by someone using MS Outlook and RTF format?

Yes you do. Unless your MSWorks is 'MSWorks *Suite*' which includes a
proper copy of word, the Works word processor does not support Word
documents.

If you just want to read the files, save them and use the free Word
Viewer at
http://office.microsoft.com/downloads/2000/wdvw9716.aspx

True but all he asked was how to open the attached WORD file
(.doc).

| That will allow you to see what's in the files. If you
want to modify
| them you'll either need to buy MS Word, or go to
www.openoffice.org
| and download Open Office.
