Odd message when attempting to upgrade to XP Pro

M

Matt D.

I have Win2K Pro and am trying to upgrade to Win XP Pro.
I can't seem to get around the following error message:

"Setup cannot create a temporary folder. Setup cannot
continue."

What a nice message. Does anyone know what I can do to
get around this?

Start > Run and in the box type x:\setup /?

That's assuming X: is your CD-ROM drive and is where the XP setup program
is. By typing setup /? you will get a list of switches and I'll bet one of
them is to not create a temp folder.

I don't "think" that is an acceptable upgrade. You would have to format the
drive and do a clean install of XP in order to run it. Take this for what
it's worth. It is just what I recall reading.
