Odd entry in My Network Places

Am using a WinXP PC. Under My Network Places, I wondered how the below
www.companynamehere.org (not its real name) website entry got in there, what
I must have clicked to get it there, and if I can just delete it?

My Network Places
entrepreneurship on www.companynamehere.org (I deleted)
SharedDocs on John's PC
SharedDocs on Bill's PC

It's also under...

My Network Places
Entire Network
Web Client Network
Www.companynamehere.org (I tried to manually delete this one
but it wouldn't. then it disappeared about a day later)

Hi George,

Ok, what happened is you either opened a file or executed a file from that
site. The site is running HTTP DAV which is a protocol that in short
behaves kind of like an SMB share (non technical explination). What we do
is when you open a file/execute a file from a share (SMB or DAV) is add a
shortcut it into My Network Places, sort of like an MRU of where you've open
files from on a network.

If you do not want it, simply delete it from My Network Places.

Yes, very helpful, I was able to delete these things.

But wondered about what is HTTP DAV, SMB, and MRU?

Also, I usually (actually never) run an executable file from any site except
maybe a Microsoft patch or Adobe patch or similar. I do open pdf's, but
thought they don't allow the source site to execute any code. (And no other
site that I got a pdf from put it's website into My Network Places.) It's
possible this particular site had a pdf on it, but don't know what else I
would have opened from this site, so I wondered how some type of executable
code could have started running to cause it to put its website
address/shortcut into My Network Places.

Would welcome any insights you might have to offer, thanks again.

Yes, a .pdf file would of added this as well.

Oh, sorry...I forget to not use TLA's (three letter acronyms) somtimes

MRU - Most Recently Used. This is a list of items that you have recently
frequented.
SMB - SMB, which stands for Server Message Block, is a protocol for sharing
files, printers, serial ports, and communications abstractions such as named
pipes and mail slots between computers.
HTTP DAV - stands for "Web-based Distributed Authoring and Versioning". It
is a set of extensions to the HTTP protocol which allows users to
collaboratively edit and manage files on remote web servers.
