"My Network Places," local folders displayed under "The Internet"

I'm sharing the "My Documents" folder between two computers. Under "My
Network Places," the desktop shows 4 folders; each of the "My Documents"
folder from each machine, and the "SharedDocs" folder from each machine.
These folders exist under the "Local Network" header in "My Network
Places" on the desktop. Under the laptop, however, only the laptop's
"My Documents" and "SharedDocs" are present under the "Local Network"
header. The desktop's "My Documents" and "SharedDocs" folder exist
under a "The Internet" header. I would like to know why it's showing up
under "The Internet," and not "Local Network," if this is a security
risk or odd quirk, and how to fix this. Thanks.

I deleted the two network shares listed under "The Internet" in "My
Network Shares." Then I opened a file in one of the shares. The share
reappeared in "My Network Places" under "The Internet."

If I remove and recreate the share on the desktop, it now publishes
itself, but still resides under "The Internet" in "My Network Places."
