Occasional bugs after starting from hibernation

Sometimes after starting Windows XP I find that;

- the keyboard is locked in uppercase mode. Pressing 'Caps Lock' has
no effect.

- left clicking on a field to select it results in several adjacent
fields being selected.

This only occurs when I start from hibernation and is fixed by
shutting down using restart rather than hibernate. (also, when in this
state, 'Hibernate' is displayed on the "Turn off computer" popup
rather than the normal 'Standby'.)

The PC is smack up-to-date on maintenance of Windows and Office and,
according the AVG, is virus free.

Any thoughts???

Just in case someone actually reads this, I forgot to mention that
another symptom of this bug in Windows XP is that shutting down is not
always possible using Start/Turn of computer. System just hangs on the
Desktop. Shutdown works via the Windows Task Manager.
