Ocasional Program Hanging in XP

I am getting ocassional hanging on my Laptop. This is most embarassing
when I am doing a Power Point Presentation.

Looking at the error log it says.

26th April - Application Hang - helpctr.exe v ... hang module hungap
version 0.0.0.0 hang address 0x00000000

26th April - Application Hang - IEXPLORE.EXE hang module hungap version
0.0.0.0 hang address 0x00000000

13th June - Application Hang - Powerpnt.exe hang module hungap version
0.0.0.0 hang address 0x00000000.

Can anybody tell me how to sort it?

By the way, the laptop has never been connected to the internet so it
cant be a bug/adware etc

Have you installed any additional software before this started to happen?

Make sure that you have the latest SP for Windows XP and your office app.

Only MS Flight Sim

I cannot check whether it has the latest SP for XP as it is not
connected to the internet.
