I have purchased a copy of windows vista ultimate (64-bit).
I would like to know if I could request to rcieve a 32-bit version of
windows vista?

Thanks in advance,
Matty

Ultimate comes with both 32 and 64bit and if yers did not you got an
illeagle copy.

Matty,

If you really purchased a retail Vista Ulitimate it comes with TWO DVD's.
One is for 32 bit and the other is for 64 bit.
But if you purchased the OEM version you only get one DVD.

Thanks Richard and AMD.

It actually is a legal copy that I have recieved it installed through
purchase of a new HP laptop.

I have not seen the actual CDs shipped to me from HP, but I have recieved
the certificates. Should not I be able to supply the keys and get the CDs
for a minimal pay from Microsoft?

Thanks,
Matty

Hi, Matty.

Look in the box. ;<)

You should already have both the 64-bit and the 32-bit versions. The retail
package should include 2 DVD disks, but only a single Product Key. You may
choose to install either (if you have 64-bit hardware), but not both. If
you've already installed x64, then you'll need to uninstall that (probably
by reformatting its boot volume or by removing the entire \Windows folder
that holds all its operating system files) before installing the x86
(32-bit) version, perhaps into the same volume.

If your computer came with Vista already installed, the rules are different.
If that is your situation, please give us more details when you post back.

Unfortunately no, you purchased the computer and received OEM Windows
Vista.
Think of OEM as being manufactured, distributed and supported by the
seller with Microsoft not involved.
One of the many reasons you paid less for OEM than retail.

Contact HP and see if there are other options.
