1. I'm too scared to rollback the driver, just in case something goes wrong. HOW DDO YOU ROLLBACK DRIVER ANYWAY, AND WHERE TO FIND THE DRIVER. IF IT IS UNDER MONITORS IN DEVICE MANAGER, I HAVE TWO (2), Default monitor (wimseset). WHICH ONE
2. 3 emails sent to nvidia in the last two weeks have not produced a response
3. Nvidia do not support GeForce4 420 Go. Nvidia says, "contact the notebook manufacturer.
Great, I can see even more problems occuring

ANY ASSISTANCE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED MICROSOFT

All you need to do is reinstall or rollback the driver, no need to ask
nvidia about it. It's a common problem.

So, did you do that?

A couple of misconceptions to clear up. These newsgroups (bulletin
boards) are not staffed by Microsoft folks. They are peer support - folks
just like yourself, helping others. So you're not talking to MS here,
with the exception of an occasional visit by a MS tech.

The MONITOR driver is a file that tells the system what values the monitor
can use; it's not truly a driver. You want the DISPLAY ADAPTER drivers.

Press the Windows key (the one with the flag) and the PAUSE key
simultaneously. (Or go to Control Panel|SYSTEM.) Click the HARDWARE tab.
Click the DEVICE MANAGER button. Click the + sign to the left of DISPLAY
ADAPTERS, to expand the tree. Right-click on the adapter name and click
PROPERTIES. Click the DRIVER tab. There's the ROLL BACK button.

In general, if current drivers work well, there is scant reason for
typical users to install "the latest"...which can lead to frustrating
problems. Additionally, the NVidia drivers may not be custom tailored to
your video card, perhaps disabling some features that the manufacturer
built in. NVidia supplies the chip for many display adapter companies.

If worried, enlist the help of a knowledgable friend or competent
technician. If possible, back up your system with an disk imaging
utility, which will save every file, every setting. Again, talk to
someone familiar with that technology.

I, too, have had a negative experience with updates from the Windows update
site.
Nvidia's drivers are installed through Add/Remove Programs. The earlier set
are supposed to be uninstalled before you install a new set.
I had to uninstall through Add/Remove Programs and then reinstall the OEM
drivers from the OEM CD. That stopped the error messages.

A lot of nVidia's software (including the driver) actually shows up in
"Add/Remove Programs." Make sure there's only one copy there.

Then, go to your manufacturer's site, download the latest driver from them.

Uninstall the old driver.

Reboot. Cancel when it tries to find new hardware.

Install the new driver when you finish booting up.
