I just used the links you posted above - is that different to the new updater? Or do they have some snazzy auto-update software going now?

edit: Ah, I disable the NVIDIA icon in the system tray - I see it has an auto-update function, I guess that's it?

Yeah its just a new feature, i dont like it coz its more running process' and it creates a new user on your system, To me its pointless, but some like it. :)

I always choose custom install - No updater and no 3D. Oh and Clean install every time. :)

I'm the same and disabled the process as I like to keep things clean and simple - I can't stand a system tray full of icons ;).

I just had an e-mail from an outfit calling itself geforce purporting to be Nvidia and the link in the e-mail takes me to a site supposedly offering Nvidia drivers.

It looks very efficient and very genuine but I'm suspicious so didn't use it. I'm figuring it may be a site similar to Guru 3D trying to gain a foothold or it may be something malicious. Nvidia have never e-mailed me so I'm wary.

Anybody else had this thing?

Nope, I never use 3rd party, even supposedly reputable sites. :)

So, where did they harvest your email address from? ;)

Perm any one of 63 and a half ;)

Probably the same source that sometimes sends me details of all kinds of pharmaceuticals including viagra; fake Rolex watches; willy enlargement programs; russian wives, filipino wives and iffy software.

http://uk.geforce.com/

If not them then its crap. :)

I often get drivers from Guru3D, betas and alike. Or http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/

Both good places to get betas and leaked drivers.
