Numerous Problems

I'm running Vista on a laptop and have it networked with a desktop running
XP. On the laptop I also run Office 2007. Now here is where the fun begins.
Whenever I try to print from Office, the program just sits there, nothing
happens, says connecting to printer, press esc to cancel. Well, I let it sit
there for 5, 10, 15 minutes and nothing happens. Press esc and the program
"quits responding". Yes, have drivers on both computers-no help, yes the
printer is installed on both the laptop and desktop and is designated as the
default printer. In fact, I cannot print at all from the laptop. Yes, printer
sharing is turned on. Another problem, I keep getting the "COM SURROGATE" is
not responding error. Will also get IE quit working error. I currently have
316 "errors" in my "Error Reports & Solutions" folder. Now I know I'm not the
only one with these problems. Can anyone please shed some light on any of
these. I'm about at wits end with this. Thanks.

Hi Lee, in your printing folder in crontrol panel in Vista are you seeing
printer just for example HP photosmart or HP photosmart on whatever the
name of your XP network if you see your printer on xp it should work.If you
see just HP photosmart it won't.You have to corrected your instalation : in
the printer folder add a printer choose add a network printer choose the
printer I want isn't listed / select a shared printer Browse and you see
all the computer on your network you chose your XP and after you choose
your printer and push on select and now you will see your printer selected
on the network and now you press next a box open to tell configure your
network printer and after you can choose as default and after you can print
a test page. Good luck JP

Everything is just like you said it should be, but it still will not print.
Just locks up!!! Can go into control panel/printers and it shows opening but
then nothing. Everything is fine on the desktop (XP), but not working on
laptop (VISTA).
