Number of messages in Group

In 2003 is it possible if I have grouped my messages by Date to display the
total number of message and unread messages for each group eg today total 30,
2 unread, last week total 50, 10 unread etc

It seems to do this automatically if you group the message by From

The folder should show the number of unreads or total items but not both.
Groupings will show the number of unreads but not totals.

It doesn't show either, but if you group by From it shows both
