Changing the folder pane display

Is there a way to change the folder pane display, in Outlook 2007, so that
the folders will show the total number of messages in each folder versus
just the 'unread' messages? However, we would still like the folder name to
be bolded if there are unread messages present. It might also be nice to
have the folder status display how many 'unread' messages or 'total'
messages. Might this be possible?

Right-click the folder and click Properties. The General tab shows the
option buttons for showing unread messages or total messages. Total message
count will be shown as a green number in square brackets after the folder
name.

Hello Jocelyn,

Thank you for the reply, it was very helpful. Nevertheless, we must say
that this option represents a pretty poor implementation of the feature.
When selecting to show 'Total' messages it ceases to show 'Unread' messages
and, being a toggle option, the user cannot select both options in order to
show both numbers. Moreover, the bolding of the folder name seems to
coincide with the option selected. As such, the user cannot even maintain
the bold option in order to signal 'Unread' messages while the folder
displays 'Total' messages (which would have been a useful combination).
Furthermore, the bold for the 'Total' message option is always ON for any
folder with any type of message and only OFF if the folder is empty; a
benefit of marginal value in our opinion. It would be much more helpful if
the bolding could be retained as an indication of 'Unread' messages while
the number reported 'Total' messages.

Thanks,
Richard
