Hi

ry thisS

Boot with your XP CD in the cd drive. Select 'To repair..' by pressing 'R'.
When in the Recovery Console type the following:

"copy X:\i386\ntldr C:\" - without the quotes. Where X is the letter of
your CD drive and C is the letter of your system drive. Take the XP CD out
of the cd drive and reboot into XP normally.

NTLDR or NTDETECT.COM Not Found

If you get an error that NTLDR is not found during bootup,

If you have FAT32 partitions, it is much simpler than with NTFS.
Just boot with a Win98 floppy and copy the NTLDR or NTDETECT.COM files
from the i386 directory to the root of the C:\ drive.

For NTFS:

Insert and boot from your WindowsXP CD.
At the first R=Repair option, press the R key
Press the number that corresponds to the correct location for the
installation of Windows you want to repair.
Typically this will be #1
Enter in the administrator password when requested
Enter in the following commands (X: is replaced by the actual drive letter
that is assigned to the CD ROM drive.
COPY X:\i386\NTLDR C\:
COPY X:\i386\NTDETECT.COM C:\
Take out the CD ROM and type exit

I tried using the repair concole already, didnt work, consequently had to
reinstall Windows XP just to get the computer working. Could it be I have a
bad motherboard?

Hi

No, it's software related not hardware. NTLDR loads the OS files in the
bootup process.

any idea why it would come up missing every couple of weeks? I fixed it the
last time using the repair console, but this time it didnt work.

Hi

It shouldn't be happening every couple of weeks as there isn't much loaded
before that file to effect it. You may like to try a 'Repair' install of XP
next time it happens. Dependent on the type of XP CD you have, the
following article by Michael Stevens will help you:

"How to Perform a Windows XP Repair Install"

I need help!!! I wanted to reinstall my XP Pro. on my computer and format my
hard drive. When I try to reboot with the disk in the drive it tells me that
NTLDR is missing , Hit Control-Alt Delete to restart. I've gone to my Bios
and set my computer to reboot from my CD rom but I still get the same
message. Any help?

Is this the same fix if I only receive the message when I reboot. Computer
starts up fine from shutdown, but when I reboot, I get the "NTLDR is missing"
message. I turn the computer off, then back on, and everything is fine.
