NTLDR IS MISSING

WHAT DOES IT MEAN WHEN YOU TURN ON OYUR COMPUTER AND IT
SAY NTLDR IS MISSING PRESS CONTROL ALT DELETE TO RESTART
AND HOW DO YOU FIX IT

You need to re-install you system again, boot from the CD and run through
the install routine after your installation is detected.
Also take off your caps lock, all capital letters is recognised as shouting
and some may not like it.

To replace damaged files you can copy fresh files from the XP CD using
the COPY command. Boot with the XP CD and enter the Recovery Console. At
the Command Prompt type the following (where "X" is your CD-Rom drive
letter) allowing the files to overwrite the old files
COPY X:\i386\NTLDR C:
COPY X:\i386\NTDETECT.COM C:

According to the KB article, this can happen if NTLDR is pushed
to a second allocation of the MFT due to defragmentation.

Can the MFT be defragmented?
How else can this be resolved?

Does anybody think that it's really lame that this kind of weirdness
still exists in Microsoft products?

Are you using an Intel Motherboard with a USB external hard drive attached?
If so, go into the BIOS and disable USB boot.

YES. Ever more "exciting" bells and whistles.
Quality, apparently, is just too boring to bother with.

The most common cause of this message is that there is a floppy in the drive
that was formatted on a NT based machine.
