NTLDR missing

I tried to reformat my XP, on 2nd disc rcvd error-cannot copy file
x:\preload\base_08.inp from disc then x:\preload\base_09.inp
retry , no help
ignore, successful installation
restart rcvd msg ...ntldr is missing press ctrl +alt +del to restart

I am dummy need baby steps please

What "2nd disc" is that?

My XP installation is only one CD, so are you trying to do whatever
you are trying to do from a genuine XP installation CD or some system
CDs or restore CDs that came with your hardware (Dell, Compaq, IBM,
etc.)?

Do you have a genuine bootable XP installation CD?

Grab this archive and create the bootable USB:

XP_Emergency_Boot_Loader_on_USB.zip 526 KB

When your desktop loads, copy the file "ntldr"
on the USB to the Windows drive (C:\).
