"NTLDR is missing,Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart"

Hi to everybody,

First of all I own the following mainboard:

Model Name : Gigabyte GA-8I955X Royal
--------------------------
M/B Rev : 1.0?
BIOS Ver : 1.71
Serial No. : SN0542000127

Please let me explain to you the problems with details because it's
not just the "NTLDR" message.

I installed succesfully a fresh copy of WIN XP SP2 and while I was
installing the motherboard drivers from the Utility Cd (v.1.02) I
installed by mistake the RAID drivers WITHOUT HAVING ANY RAID HD. Then
my PC was not able to boot at all. It won't even let me install WIN as
the setup could not find any HD in my system.

I managed to do a full format of the HD from the WIN XP setup cd
(after manipulating several BIOS configurations to make my system
point to SATA instead of Raid) but still while trying to install now a
fresh copy of the WIN XP and when the first automatic reboot is needed
the PC is freezing (exactly when it lists the PCI devices during the
startup it stops at the ACPI Controller IRQ9) and it prompts me this
message: "NTLDR is missing,Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart".

I tried several solutions from the recovery console of the XP setup cd
but the result is the same (after doing a research in the internet AND
microsoft's site e.g. installing the ntldr from the setup cd e.t.c.).

PLEASE HELP ME. should I reset the CMOS? and if yes please guide me
through the process.

Many thanks in advance,

Dr George

I looked at the FAQ page at

The answers to questions about your problem are just plain stupid.

I downloaded the manual for your mobo.

You'll need to build a raid configuration even though you're going to use
one drive. (use raid 0) Follow the instructions pages 68 - 74 Then copy the
controller driver to floppy.

To do a clean install, boot the Windows XP install CD-Rom. Setup inspects
your computer's hardware configuration and then begins to install the setup
and driver files. When the Windows XP Professional screen appears, press
ENTER to set up Windows XP Professional.

(Note: If your drive controller is not natively supported then you'll want
to boot the Windows XP CD-Rom. Then *F6* very early and very important (at
setup is inspecting your system) in the setup to prevent drive controller
detection, and select S to specify additional drivers. Then later you'll be
prompted to insert the manufacturer supplied Windows XP driver for your
drive controller in drive "A")

Read the license agreement, and then press the F8 key to accept the terms of
the license agreement and continue the installation.

When the Windows XP Professional Setup screen appears, all the existing
partitions and the unpartitioned spaces are listed for each physical hard
disk. Use the ARROW keys to select the partitions Press D to delete an
existing partition, If you press D to delete an existing partition, you must
then press L (or press ENTER, and then press L if it is the System
partition) to confirm that you want to delete the partition. Repeat this
step for each of the existing partitions When all the partitions are deleted
press F3 to exit setup, (to avoid unexpected drive letter assignments with
your new install) then restart the pc then when you get to this point in
setup again select the unpartitioned space, and then press C to create a new
partition and specify the size (if required). Windows will by default use
all available space.

Be sure to apply SP2 or at least these two below to your new install before
connecting to any network. Internet included. (sasser, msblast)
