NTDS Replication Problems

G

Guest

Hello, I have a PDC and BDC in the default-first-site, my problem is that
they are not replicating at all. When i try to replicate from the NTDS
Connection, It gives me the error: There are no more endpoints available from
the endpoint mapper. Im using Win2000 with the latest patches.

What can I do? This is becoming a real problem in my company now.

First, There is no thing such BDC in Windows 2000 and later, all domain
controllers using a mulimaster replication model. I'm asking this to ensure
you not are talking about an NT4.0 Server that is BDC and are a part of the
domain?

If this domain controller is located behind a firewall and have restricted
network access to it's replication partners,

Have a look at:
Restricting Active Directory replication traffic to a specific port

TheBoss,

As Chris stated, there is no more PDC and BDC in WIn200 and WIN2003. Just
simply Domain Controllers.

Anyway, the Endpoints problem is usually connected to DNS issues. 'Usually'
being the key word. How is DNS set up?

Ensure that you have DNS installed properly and that both of your Domain
Controllers are pointing to your INTERNAL DNS Server(s) and not to any
external Server(s) - like your ISP DNS Servers....

What happens if you do an ipconfig /all on both of your DCs? How does that
look?

Also, a good way to figure out what is going wrong when you suspect that you
are having intrasite replication problems is to do what is suggested in the
following MSKB Article:

http://support.microsoft.com/?id=249256

Installing the Support Tools for the Windows Service Pack CD Media ( in this
case, SP4 ) is the best place to get them....or directly from the MS Web
Site...

HTH,
