1586 NTDS Replication. The Checkpoint with the PDC was unsuccessf

I have one DC that keeps getting this error:

Event ID: 1586
Source: NTDS Replication
Type: Warning
Description: The checkpoint with the PDC was unsuccessful. The checkpointing
process will be retried again in four hours. A full synchronization of the
security database to downlevel domain controllers may take place if this
machine is promoted to be the PDC before the next successful checkpoint.

I found this MS article but not sure i am looking at the right thing:
Article 269417.

In the NTDS for the server that has problems, it has "automatically
generated" for 2 servers that are not the PDC. There is a third entry for
the PDC that I think was added manually.

We are in Mixed mode still and are ready to convert to Native mode but
haven't yet. Will Native mode correct this or how do I get this server to be
able to replicate to the PDC? Is this an error I should be concerned about?
This server is a DC and a Global Catalog.

It looks ok to me but not sure why we keep getting this error. All the other
servers have the PDC automatically generated in their NTDS settings. like
stated earlier, this DC has 2 DC's auto generated but the PDC is entered
manually.
