I located 6 copies of the file ntdll.dll after checking the event viewer for
the error messages that I have been getting. Can I delete 5 of them or will
this cause a problem? Thank you!

Pretend we can't see your computer from here and tell us where the 5 copies
are, and what in your event log led you to look for them. I know you're busy
and it's a silly little game, but if you humour me then I'm fairly sure
you'll get better quality answers to your question.

I'm always surprised at "professionals" who STILL have to be asked "Have you
checked (event viewer / syslog)".

C:\I386
C:\Windows\$NtServicePackUn
C:\Windows\$NtUninstallQ815
C:\Windows\System32
C:\Windows\$xpsp1hfm$\Q81
C:\Windown\ServicePackFiles\i

The evenet viewer info is Faulting application spoolsv.exe, version
5.1.2600.2696, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 5.1.2600.2180, fault
address 0x000105f8.

I looked for them because of an error message I get whenever I close Word..

Does this help? I wondered if something was corrupt and started playing to
see what I could find. There are many of these application errors listed,
all with the same message. PM

Yup. We can do something with that.

First of all, those file copies appear to be legitimate. One is the copy
you're using (\system32) and the others are copies made by the system as a
result of installation, patching, etc. Assuming your virus scanner isn't
whining then don't worry.

Next up, the error. Couple of things are candidates for this, but we'll
start with the obvious. Have you recently installed any Windows patches?

Next up, What printer do you have installed? Is it an HP one by any chance?
This error generally points to a driver not talking to the system correctly
so I'm wondering if there is a more up to date version of the printer
drivers you are using available.

Thanks, I don't have an HP printer installed, I have a Lexmark inkjet and a
Minolta color laser printer. I have the updates installed automatically when
I get notified, so yes, I have installed patches. This has been happening
for several months now, but since it doesn't give me the error message until
I go to quit the program and never during my work, I just didn't take the
time to explore it until today.
