Error 1706 means nothing by itself. You need to have the Event ID & the
Event Source.
See what it says in Event Viewer.
To open the Event Viewer...
Start | Run | Type: eventvwr | OK
Double click the event in Event Viewer | Click: the button below the second

I think I need to add additional information to my original question.
The initial message that I receive is windows is preparing to install
SV1.exe encountered problem and needed to close. Then I am given the
option to send error rpt. However the attempt to send error rept
fails and you get the message PC-cillin 2000. "the feature you are
trying to use is on a ntwk resource that is unavailable. Click ok to
try again or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the
installation pckg PNT2k.Msl. Use feature from "D\0135301.tmo\".
Also the it shows Error 1706. No valid source could be found for
product PC-cillin 2000.
