Hi...I need to install numberous of windows xp pro computers, and I am
thinking if I could use NTbackup to backup to .bkf (including system
state) file for one of the computers as a sample, and NTbackup to
restore to the rest of the computers. Then I could change the computer
name and rejoin the domain.

This way I don't need to install the same apps into many computers.

BTW, if I use the Ghost program, which version it starts to support XP
pro. and What extra steps need to be taken for ghosting the same image
to mulitple computers.

Thanks,
fshguo.

NTBackup wouldn't be suitable for this. Ghost, True Image, BootitNG, and
other imaging programs would be. You have to take into account things like
duplicate SIDs, Product Keys, activations, etc. The official Microsoft way
is to use sysprep.

If this is for a business, I suggest Symantec Enterpise Ghost. You can then setup a PC,
copy the profile to the Default User Profile and then run Sysprep. Subsequently create a
Ghost image of the syspreped platform.

Using the Ghost Multi-Cast IP capability you can then restore that one image to mumerous
platforms "at the same time".

In any imaging capability, they should all be the same make and model platform.
