nt authority\system

I have a dell latitude and it won't boot up - it goes to
an error message:
nt authority\system shutting down
c:\winnt\system32\services.exe terminated unexpectedly
with status code 128 and then keeps restarting
It won't boot from external floppy and I don't have a win
2000 cd to boot from
