NT Authority System Shutdown

R

Rey-Tech

I've recently got this error message on my Windows 2000
PC, "The system is shutting down. Please save all work in
progress and log off. Any unsaved changes will be lost.
This shutdown was initiated by NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM.

The system process C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\SERVICES.EXE
terminated unexpectedly with status code 128. The system
will shut down and restart.

I found the fix but in order to run it you have to have
access to the desktop. The PC keeps rebooting before
Win2k can bring it up even in safe mode.

Is there anyway I can stop the reboot from occuring? I
have access to Safe Mode with Command Prompt, can I do
anything there?

Thanks

You might also be infected by a virus this is a symptom simiar to the
blaster virus. If you machines are not on the latest patches and you have
not updated your virus software recently this is a good possiblity.
