Now on Desktop

One of my programme folders has suddenly appeared on my desktop and
disappeared from Programmes. How can I get it back into the Programme area.

What do you mean just appeared there? Are you sure you never dragged it there
yourself?

Are we talking 'Program Files' folder or 'Application Data' folder?

Did you change the installation location of the folder? If not then you should
be able to move it back

START | MY COMPUTER | [Drive Letter Here] | PROGRAM FILES | click on the left
SHOW FILES

Right-click & hold on the directory on the Desktop, drag & drop into the Program
Files & say MOVE HERE

Once copied try the application to see if it works. If not, re-install it

Nero is the folder. I know I can still access it from here but I don't like
too much clutter on the desktop and want to know how it could have happened.

Another of my other questions about adding to Send to, how do you do this
please?

Did you recently update or reinstall Nero?

No update or re-installing. I am blaming my husband for this one, could it
have been dragged on?

He doesn't remember, or know how !

So I guess we will have to leave it there, or reinstall Nero.

By the way I found out how to add a new destination to the Send To feature,
which was another of my queries.

Just drag it back to where it is supposed to be. Click and drag it to
the Start button, pause while that opens, drag down to Programs, pause
while that opens then Drop it.

Thanks Bob, I tried your suggestion. But it transferred over as Shortcut to
Nero in Programmes and was in a Folder, unlike the rest of the icons in the
Programmes List. So I renamed it Nero shortcut to.

Then I deleted the Nero from the desktop but unfortunately that seems to
have deleted the programme and the Nero folder in Programmes is now empty.
So I restored the Nero folder back to the desktop.

Looks like a reinstall.

One uninstalls applications/programs, BW, one does not delete them.

1. Uninstall Nero via Add/Remove Programs.

2. Reinstall Nero.

Yes thank you PA Bear. I deleted it because I thought at the time it was
only a shortcut to the programme, not realising it was the actual programme.

Will do as you say.

Since "Programs" contains nothing but shortcuts to the actual program, I
suspect there was more to this issue than the "folder for Nero" was
moved from Programs to Desktop. If in fact the entire folder of Nero
program files was relocated to the desktop folder and is now deleted,
the only fix is as PA Bear says, reinstalling Nero.

Yes it does appear that the whole programme was relocated to the desktop.
However with a restore from the recycle bin the programme is working again
but of course is still on the desktop.
