CD No-read Ahead

A friend of mine is having trouble backing up data within a programme, the
programme won't recognize his CD drive. In the troubleshooting section of
this programme it says to select no-read ahead on the CD/RW drive. But the
instructions on how to get there, Settings - Control Panel - System -
Performance - File system - CD ROM Tab - Optimize access pattern - No Read
Ahead, does not seem available. How else can he get to this area.

Sounds like this program is not designed to be used on Windows XP.

To do what you want and if the program was not written for XP, you should be

looking at:

Roxio's Drag to CD (DirectCD)

Ahead InCD

Sonic DLA.

The programme states it is suitable for Windows XP Home which is what he has
???

The instructions appear to have been written for one of the DOS/Windows
(95,98,ME )operating systems, not the NT/Windows (NT, 2000, XP) systems.
So if what you say about the program states it is suitable is correct,
then the program vendor should be asked to assist as the provided
documentation is incorrect.
