I have tried Yahoo popup blocker and now the new SP2
blocker and I still get popups, I am running XP Home I
tried PopUp Stopper it works better but then I get script
errors.

What can I do to stop the pop ups?

thanks

PopUp Cop (http://www.popupcop.com). It's not free ($20). It has a
30-day trial. Of course, if the real problem is that the popup window
is for AOL/Yahoo/MSN Messenger prattle client or using the "Messenger"
NT Service then a browser popup-up utility won't help you (except PopUp
Cop does have an option to disable the Messenger NT service but you
could also do that just by using the services.msc applet).

thanks, I'll try that, but how do I tell if the pop ups
are from AOL/Yahoo/MSN Messenger prattle client or using
the "Messenger"

It's been too long since I used AIM or MSN Messenger but recall that
they could display popups although they might be configurable within the
program. Obviously NOT loading them would get rid of any popups from
them.

The "Messenger" NT service popups are identifiable because they say
something like "Messenger Service" in their title bar plus they look
like popup windows rather than additional instances of the browser
(without toolbars). Run the command "net send * this is a test" from a
DOS command to see if you are susceptible to Messenger messages. If you
see the test message (regardless of the status reported) then you need
to stop and disable that NT service (it is highly unlikely that you need
it). See http://support.microsoft.com/?id=302089 (although I just use
the services.msc applet to disable the service instead of using a
policy).
